Care and Cleaning of Pearls
Pearls get dirty, just like any other jewelry, but you have to clean them with care or you'll end up with damaged gems. Use these cleaning tips to make sure your pearls live a long and lovely life.
With proper care, your fine pearl jewelry will last for generations.
Use Storage Techniques that Do Not Damage Jewelry
DON'T put all your jewelry into one drawer. A diamond stone can scratch a pearl necklace or gold bead. Keep jewelry pieces separate and, ideally, wrapped in velvet, silk or a plastic zip-lock bag.
Care and Storage of Gold Beads and Jewelry
Remove gold jewelry before entering hot tubs or swimming pools. The chlorine in the water can erode gold jewelry. The risk of precious gemstones falling out of settings is also high. Keep gold jewelry away from harsh household cleaning fluids as they can create abrasions on gold. Clean gold jewelry with warm water and detergent-free soap. Use a soft-bristled brush to clean the pieces.
